More people are starting to realize the benefits associated with feeding their dog(s) raw food and we want to help further increase this awareness and educate as many dog owners as possible about the importance of nourishing their dog with a raw diet and raw treats. This is also why we decided to make our own homemade dehydrated raw dog treats.

Why should you buy our homemade Raw Dog Treats?

We only use human grade “A” meats and/or organs that have been inspected by certified meat inspectors. Furthermore, we don’t add any preservatives, additives, artificial flavouring or colouring. In fact, we don’t add anything at all to any of the treats that we sell!!! (hence the name “raw dog treats”.)

We simply dehydrate all of the meats and organs in our dehydrator for a couple of days and package the treats once they are dried out. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the “dehydrating” process, you might be surprised to know that it is in fact the oldest natural way to preserve food! By drying the food, moisture is removed and the enzymes cannot efficiently contact or react with the food; and by preventing enzymatic action from occuring, it preserves the food. Also, because the meat is “dried” and not “cooked”, the enzymes and antioxidants (which are vital nutrients for your dog) are preserved. In other words, not only are our homemade raw dehydrated dog treats absolutely delicious, they provide nutrients that are essential for your dog’s health every time he/she eats one!   (they’re also a great way to help you train your dog)

Why you should think twice before you feed your dog wheat flour based dog kibble and/or dog treats found at many supermarkets and local pet stores?

It’s scary!! The main ingredients are almost always cereal and/or grain “fillers” such as corn gluten meal, wheat flour, wheat gluten, and ground corn. Some experts claim these diets lead to digestive-related illnesses (dogs aren’t supposed to have such a high proportion of grains in their diet). Furthermore, animal by-product meals such as poultry or chicken by-product meals, are essentially slaughterhouse wastes that are not suitable for human consumption and some veterinarians believe that they increase your dog’s risk of getting cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Now, think about all of the man-made chemicals that are also added to most pet foods/treats on the market to make the so called “food” last longer, taste better, and improve its appearance. The most commom preservatives used are: butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). Both of these synthetic preservatives are recognized by many veterinarians as being potentially cancer-causing agents. Ever wonder why so many dog treats are red? Many of the corporations that produce these treats add red dye to make the treat look like it is “real” meat, even though some experts claim that these red dyes destroy cells in your dog's body. Its unbelievable what some companies put in your dog’s food! How and why are they allowed get away with adding chemicals to your dog’s food?

Why is it important to feed your dog raw food and/or raw treats?

Like humans, dogs are omnivores and they need a large variety of foods in their diet such as: raw bones, vegetables, raw organs, raw meat and fats, and fruits. However, unlike humans, dogs don’t have digestive enzymes in their saliva. As a result, in order for dogs to be able to properly digest what they eat, they need to have active, live enzymes in their food; and these vital enzymes are only present in raw, unaltered, uncooked food.

On average a healthy dog has 400 species of bacteria and microorganisms on their intestinal walls, called “micro flora”, which provide enzymes, vitamins, and minerals that inhibit the growth of disease forming bacteria such as salmonella and e-coli. Furthermore, dogs have lower acidity content in their stomach than humans, and this is why they can eat raw meats and bones with little or no risk of contracting a parasitic disease.

Providing your dog with a fresh, natural raw food diet, not only gives him/her a much better chance of avoiding common ailments such as: ear & eye troubles, allergies, tartar-encrusted teeth, cancer, digestive problems, bowel/urinary ailments, arthritis, obesity, parasites, and skin problems, but it will also strengthen your little buddy’s immune system and have a significant positive impact on improving your dog’s overall vitality, health, longevity, and quality of life.
